This lesson shows the close relationship between Marguerite and her younger brother – Francois Duke of Anjou and Alencon – by going on a diplomatic mission to the Netherlands on his behalf.
It also details her reunion in 1579 with her husband – Henry III King of Navarre, whom she had not seen since around 1574 or 1575.
Her marriage failed in Navarre, and she went back to the court of her brother – Henry III – in Paris in 1582. There her reputation devolved into scandal and intrigue.
She was banished until 1599 when her marriage to Henry, who was now Henry IV of France, was annulled so he could marry Marie de Medici.
