Many years ago, my husband and I ran a non-profit organization.

Teaching Canadian History to homeschoolers was an aspect of the service we offered. We organized 3-day field trips to Ottawa in which students and their chaperones were hosted, fed and taught in our home.

They also visited historic buildings: The Supreme Court, The Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings, and museums. They were taught not just in our home, but also en route to the next stop.

Although we have since moved from Ottawa, it remains my desire to arrange such trips to teach about our Christian heritage. We are currently planning to again run our popular tours to Ottawa in Spring 2023. If this is something that interests you, then you can keep in the loop in a few ways:

  1. Join our FB Group. I also do FB Lives which teach Canadian History from a Christian perspective.
  2. Join our newsletter, so you can receive more detailed emails with information I may not necessarily post online.
  3. Follow our articles, using this link or by signing up on any page on this website to receive them straight in your inbox.
  4. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  5. Join the waitlist.

This is what participants had to say about the experience:

“Thank you once again for everything you did to make our Ottawa class trip so educational and memorable. I truly hope that all the high school students in our group have the opportunity to experience this trip under your supervision and teaching so that each one can get a sense of our Canadian heritage, something that all too often is minimized. It is only as we study our past that we can live in the present and have a vision for the future, plus gain hope in knowing that the same God who was in control of every historical event is the same God who will lead in the future.

Thank you so much for hosting us for three days in Ottawa. We truly enjoyed our time and felt welcomed into your family. I really appreciated your enthusiasm when you spoke on Canadian government and I think some of it rubbed off on us. I even found myself watching Parliamentary debate on TV while I was on the treadmill the other day and it was interesting to me!

I thought the 3 days were well organized and we saw and learned a lot. Lynette did a great job guiding us and giving us some interesting tidbits of information along the way. Over all we enjoyed the time we spent with you. I will plan to bring my younger daughter in a couple of years and will enjoy coming again myself. There is a boatload more that I can learn.

Many thanks,”

“Dear Tim and Lynette,

Thanks so much for a great time in Ottawa! Yes we did learn more about our Christian heritage and see the amazing buildings that our forefathers built. We had enough tours.. and yes the guys really liked the view from the Peace Tower. It’s fun being with kids that are on their first trip to Ottawa , as everything is new and exciting! I appreciated viewing the memorial room with all the signatures… and seeing Psalm 139 inscribed on the walls.

Some of the homeschool families in our area went to the Christian Governance tours in Ottawa this spring. We learned a lot about our Christian heritage and had a lot of fun too. I highly recommend it to you! Let’s get the next generation prepared to be pillars of salt and light, and to be speaking up about the issues that really matter.”

“Thanks so much for all you and your husband are doing to make these Ottawa trips possible! R & her friends enjoyed it thoroughly & learned SO much! R really appreciates your hospitality.”

“Dear Lynette and Tim

I know Peter has expressed his thanks with his group last week for all you have done, but I just wanted to take a moment on behalf of my husband and myself to say THANK YOU for all that you have done to make this Ottawa field trip possible for our son and many others. Peter has been talking about it a lot and he really enjoyed it and learned so much. My husband and I have been talking about taking our family some day to Ottawa for a field trip (we are just waiting until our youngest is a little older … she is almost 2 years old), but we also know that we could not have made it nearly as informative as you did for Peter and his group. We feel so blessed to have a Christian couple like yourselves who was willing to do this for so many families’ teenagers. May God continue to bless you and your family and your ministry there in Ottawa.”

“Dear Tim and Lynette

The children benefited greatly! They learned a lot and were quite touched by all that you shared. I have to say that they are still digesting all the information and processing and understanding what it all means to them as believers and their role as a citizen. I do believe it was very rich and if I were to give any suggestions it would only be in regards to the fact that it was packed!! A lot to process and take in during a very short period. Then again – one wants to make the most of it I will recommend it to friends and will certainly keep it filed for my younger children to take part in it when they are of age! 🙂 Thank you again!!”
