  • 1455 – Birth
  • 1507 – Benedictine Abbey to exegete and study Scripture
  • 1512 – Latin commentary on Pauline Epistles
  • 1521 – Saved from persecution by Parlement and the Sorbonne by Francis I
  • 1522 – Latin commentary of the Gospels (the manifesto of the Reformation)
  • 1523 – Birth of the French New Testament. Separate translations of Gospels and  Epistles His publications viewed as heretical
  • 1524 – Francis captured in Spain. D’Etaples’ work seen as heretical by Parlement & Louise of Savoy
  • 1524/1526 – Francis returned. Charges dropped
  • 1526 – Francis’/ Loyal Librarian. Published Pentatuch & Psalm
  • 1530 – Published the complete Bible
  • 1531 – Given refuge by Marguerite of Navarre
  • 1533 – Visited by Calvin in Navarre
  • 1534 – revised the Bible using Greek and Hebrew texts
  • 1536 – Died in Navarre
